Next Church Appointment: November 21 the students are being asked to be part of the Richland Church Service. Thank you for bringing your student to the past two weekends of performances. I’ve heard many good comments about their singing. I know it’s an effort to go to all three churches in a short time, but we need to “showcase” our school to our constituent churches.
BOOK-IT READING: Continue encouraging your student to read 60 minutes a week. There are only a few days to finish the 240 minutes of reading for the pizza certificate this month. Please return your October calendar on Monday, November 2.
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES: Remember there will be half days of school on Wednesday, November 4 & Thursday, November 5. Conference schedules will be sent home on Friday. If you’ve forgotten to sign up for a conference, please contact Mrs. Hibbs in the office.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUN-YU: Sun-Yu turns 7 on November 3! Happy Birthday!
Pencils & Glue sticks: Many children are running out of pencils and glue sticks. My supply here in the classroom is limited. Please check with your student and see if he/she needs replacements. Thanks to those who’ve already sent a new supply of pencils.
Pumpkin Patch Adventure: Thank you to the parents who made our trip possible! The rain held off until we returned to the school. We thanked God for that!
SPELLING CITY.COM: Please check out a really cool website for the students to use to practice their spelling words. 1. Go to tcja.org 2. Click on my picture which will link you to my blog. 3. On the right hand side scroll down to the education links. 4. Click on the last one which is called Spelling List Games. 5. It will take you directly to the lists set up for my classroom. Thank you, Sonja Knight, for finding the site and for setting up the lists for us each week.
The students are practicing spelling in the computer lab each Thursday afternoon using this site.

Thank you for working with us on this.

Book-it Reading Program: When your student turns in his/her reading minutes for this month (October) he/she will receive a Pizza Hut certificate for reading 240 minutes for the month.
Field Trip: We will be taking a field trip to the pumpkin patch/corn maze on Wednesday, October 14. At first we’d been scheduled to go the one on Road 68. After determining that they would not allow the children to go through the corn maze, we changed our trip to the Country Mercantile on Highway 395. Our tour is scheduled for 9:00 AM. We will need to leave the school by 8:35.
We need drivers for the trip. At the moment I have two drivers scheduled plus myself. I have need for drivers for 7 more children. Please let me know if you’d be available to drive.
Remember your child will need a booster seat. The state law requires children up to their 8th birthday to use a booster seat. Last month I measured the children and no one is tall enough to get out of the law. Only two students are old enough to not require a booster.
