SHOW & TELL: Pet Day
MEMORY VERSE: So always be ready. You don’t know the day your Lord will come. Matt. 24:42 (to be said, June 1)
Spelling: Grade 2: We have been working on review words. There will be a 50 word final test on June 1. A list of words to study was sent home last week. I’ve been giving the 2nd graders spelling tests this week. Those words will be VERY important for study for the final test.
Spelling: Grade 1: There will be a 25 word final test on June 1. A list of words to study was sent home last week.
June 2: Math final test over concepts of the year.
Pet Day, May 28: The children’s favorite Show & Tell! Pets that can be caged may be brought for the morning. Other pets should be brought at 11:45 to show on the playground.
Summer Birthday Potluck June 3: Another of our traditions is to have a potluck lunch at the end of the year to celebrate the summer birthdays as well as the end of the school year. It’s always a fun potluck. If you can take off a few minutes at lunch time, come and join us! Also pray that it will be good weather for an outside picnic!
Send bags for bringing home the desk/locker baggage on Thursday. I like sending it a day early so we can find the forgotten things before Friday.
Last Day of School: Friday, June 4.
Summer Reading/Math: I would like to encourage each student to have a summer reading and math time each day to keep skills fresh. Second graders can start working on the multiplication tables to get a head start on third grade math. Also review regrouping concepts every now and then so as not to forget that important skill.

Mother’s Day Project: If you enjoyed the project your student brought home for Mother’s Day, thank Nadeen Irvine. She organized the project several weeks ago. Then she brought in all the parts for the students to do the week before Mother’s Day. Little did I know what a blessing that would be! My father who had been staying with us while my mom was in Rehab for her broken hip, had a very painful belly on Sunday, May 2. After spending 5 hours in the Emergency Room he went to surgery for a perforated ulcer. All last week he was hospitalized. I’m thankful for those who could substitute in my classroom during some of those days when I just had to tend to parent needs. They are now both situated in the Jubilee Care Home just a block from the school. What a blessing it is to have them close by and in a good environment.
Track & Field Day: We had a wonderful day and beautiful weather for our Track Day. The students really participated well.
Hanford Health & Safety Expo: I’m planning to take the students to the Health & Safety Expo on Tuesday morning, May 18. I will need parents to go with us. If you are available let me know! We will be going on Ben Franklin Transit. I have 4 parents scheduled to go with us. If you have not signed up and are available we’d still love to have you come.

Last Day of School: Friday, June 4. At staff meeting on Tuesday evening we finally established that we will have 180 days by Friday, June 4 and will not have to come to school on Monday, June 7. Thankfully we only missed one day of school because of snow and that day was built into the calendar. It just makes sense to end the year on a Friday rather than coming back for a half day on Monday! There will be clean-up in the classroom on that Friday as well as fun ASB games.
