Reading: Please continue encouraging your student to read each day. Some of the students have checked out more than 20 books so far this year. Others are only at 6 or 7.

Timed Math: If your student is stuck on a timed math paper, maybe you could help at home with making flash cards out of index cards and practicing the facts he/she is having trouble with remembering. Each timed math paper repeats the same new combination many times in the 30 problems. If the student can’t remember the new fact it really slows him/her down.

Homework: Today the 2nd graders had a homework paper that involved coloring as well as writing the answers. If the paper was not completed when they walked in the door, they did not receive a sticker for completed work. Please remind your student to read ALL directions as well as put their name on the paper.
