SHOW & TELL: Favorite Food

Spelling: Grade 2: 2nd Graders really need to practice their words! Starting this on Friday 10/29 the second graders will be responsible for spelling the first grade words as well as their own. 10/29 sunny, baby, play, goat, sweet, puppy, team, windy, does, bunny, chain, your 11/5 it’s, they’re, you’re, she’s, can’t, children, doesn’t, I’m, he’s, we’re, because, aren’t 11/12 thorn, wheel, white, chain, thank, black, think, crash, whale, between, truck, something 11/19 brush, teeth, lunch, moth, punch, flash, bench, beach, ranch, stuck, after, other

Spelling: Grade 1: 10/29 ram, sat, hat, rat, bat, jam, fat (This is a great list for 1st grade! They already know how to spell the words so it will be an easy way to ease into spelling tests.)

Scholastic Book Order: This week I’m sending home a book order. It seems that Scholastic doesn’t have as many good choices as they used to offer. This particular magazine has some nice books. If you wish to order return the order by Friday, October 29. The checks should be addressed to Scholastic Book Club.

October 29 Show & Tell: Friday, October 29, will be our favorite food potluck. This Show & Tell has become a much loved tradition. Each student should bring a special food item to share with the class. No one should bring a lunch or order hot lunch there is always been plenty of food!

Pathways Reading Book: We have completed Cactus Hotel and will be beginning Pokey next week.

October Reading Calendar: Monday, November 1, the October reading calendar should be returned. If your student has finished 240 minutes already, then please send the calendar in with the homework folder on Friday. This is the first month of the Pizza Hut Book-it Program.

Parent-Teacher Conferences: Remember school gets out at 1:00 PM on both Wednesday and Thursday next week so parents and teachers can meet for conferences. Mrs. Hibbs has the schedule master list in the office. If you have any questions, contact her.

Sabbath, October 23 appointment: The TCJA students have been asked to participate in the worship service at the Richland Church on Sabbath, October 23. The 1st & 2nd grade students will be singing four scripture songs. See you about 10:40 on Sabbath morning.

Reading: We have begun a new theme book for the month of October. The children seem fascinated with Cactus Hotel. We will be learning many interesting things about the deserts and the saguaro cactus.

Next Week: Mrs. O and Miss Bennett will be leading out in the classroom. I have some daily medical treatments so will be in and out.

Friday, October 8: Remember, Friday, 10/8 is our Teacher In-Service Day. There will be no school. The teachers are going to Camp MiVoden for an inspirational weekend.
