SHOW & TELL: Something that reminds you of spring

MEMORY VERSE: Jesus said, “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God. And trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house. I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going there to prepare a place for you. After I go and prepare a place for you. I will come back. Then I will take you to be with me so that you may be where I am.” John 14:1-3 ( We will be working on this verse for another week.)

Math: Our new lessons in math are telling time! 1st graders need to know time to the hour and half hour, second graders by 5 minute increments before and after the hour. The chapter test will be Friday, March 4.

Book: We just finished reading the book Hachiko Waits during story time after lunch. The children were fascinated. Several of them want a copy of their own. I can still order it from Scholastic for $4.00. If you want your child to have the book, send $4.00 by Monday and I’ll place an order.

A brief synopsis: The story takes place in Japan in the 1920’s & 30’s. Every day, Hachi greets his master at the train station after work. But when his master doesn’t come, Hachi keeps waiting—for 10 years! A heartbreaking true story of loyalty.

We looked up pictures of the dog online this afternoon. We love having the computer and projector in the classroom. It adds so much to our learning.

Mark Your Calendar: It’s a few weeks away, but TCJA is going to give the program at the Riverview Church on Sabbath, April 2. The 1st & 2nd graders will be singing all of Isaiah 53. I hope you can plan to be there for that event. We’ve worked diligently to learn the whole chapter.
