SHOW & TELL: Track & Field Day at Edgar Brown Stadium
MEMORY VERSE: Anything you did for one of my brothers here, however humble, you did for Me. Anything you did for one of my brothers here, Matthew twenty-five verse forty. (A song we know that we will sing)
Spelling: Grade 2: Review—I will send the list home to review. We will have the 50 word test next Thursday, June 2.
Spelling: Grade 1: I will send the list home for review. We will have a 25 word test on Thursday, June 2.
Math Final: There will be a final Math test on Wednesday. This is a book test that covers concepts from all units studied this school year.
No Homework: This week is the last of assigned homework. No homework on May 31 & June 2.
Coming Events:
May 30: Memorial Day—No School
June 1: Class picnic and summer birthday party celebration (A potluck picnic—bring something to share with classmates)
June 2—Spring program for PK – 6
June 3 – Pet Day
June 6 – Last Day of School—Dismissal at 1:00 PM Bring bags to carry home contents of desk and locker.

MEMORY VERSE: Then I heard the Lord’s voice. He said, “Whom can I send? Who will go for us?” So I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Spelling: Grade 2: 5/20: knife, wire, thief, clever, angrily, plastic, scraps, grinder, bamboo, business, squeezed, straighten, antenna 5/27: Review—I will send the list home on Tuesday to review.

Health & Safety Fair: Thank you to those who came to help with supervision at the Health & Safety Fair. Everyone enjoyed the event and came back with a bag full of goodies.
Reading A-Z books: Thank you for listening to your student each Tuesday . I’m sending your student’s Reading A-Z book home to be read and studied with you before the quiz on Wednesday. (Make sure the book is returned on Wednesday morning in the homework folder.) Please sign the sticky note on the front of the book indicating that you listened to the book. Thank you for your help at home. This coming week will be the final week of Reading A-Z.
Inventor Report: Please help your student work on the inventor report paper that was sent home in the homework folder last week. The report is due back on Tuesday, May 24! Help your student to learn skills of responsibility by bringing the report to class on time.

Reading A-Z books: A new routine will continue each Tuesday for the remainder of the school year. (Except this coming week I will send homework and reading a-z home on Monday evening. It should be returned on Wednesday morning) I’m sending your student’s Reading A-Z book home to be read and studied with you before the quiz on Wednesday. (Make sure the book is returned on Wednesday morning in the homework folder.) Please sign the sticky note on the front of the book indicating that you listened to the book. This week 12 students remembered that part of the routine. Thank you for your help at home.

May 17—Track & Field Day at Edgar Brown Stadium—8:30-2:00 Make sure your student is well covered in sunscreen. A sack lunch and water will also be needed. There can be no eating on the field so lunches will be consumed on the bleachers. Mr. O’s note will give more details.
May 18- Health & Safety Fair fieldtrip at the TRAC ( We will leave the school at 8:40, walk to Sylvester to catch the special Ben Franklin Transit bus out to the TRAC. We will return to the school by 11:50.)

Spring holes!: This is the time of year that the boys especially have sprouted holes in the knees of their jeans. Remember holes need patches or reserve the pants for play instead of wearing to school. I find that the students tend to “play” with the threads and make the holes bigger. It’s a distraction.
